Kyber Cantina S4C Donation page

I joined the NMDP registry in the spring of 2010 while attending the University of Texas at San Antonio, hoping that one day I might be called as a match. The following year, my mother was diagnosed with a blood cancer called Myelodysplastic Syndrome (MDS). After a few years of treatment, she ultimately required a stem cell transplant. She passed away in 2014 before she could receive her transplant. In April 2025, I received a message informing me that I had matched with a patient who was around the same age my mother was when she passed. While the call itself was unexpected, I was even more astonished to learn that I was a 100% match for this patient. In July 2025, I donated 220 million stem cells to my anonymous recipient. My hope is that this donation has given her a second chance at life and serves as the cure my mother never had. -Kristina Nesmith
